ABOUT AMELIA
Dr. Derr received her BA from Macalester College and her MSW and PhD from the University of Washington. Dr. Derr has been a Clarke Chambers Social Welfare History Fellow, a Warren G. Magnuson Health Sciences Fellow, a Helen R. Whiteley Writing Fellow, and a Seattle University Center for Community Engagemnet Faculty Research Fellow. Her research has been supported by the Society for the Scientific Study of Religion Research Award, the J. Scott Briar Dissertation Award, the Seattle University Global Research Grant, Seattle University Provost Research Fellowship and College of Arts & Sciences Research Fellowship, Institute for Catholic Thought and Culture Research Fellowship, and Seattle University Endowed Mission Fund as well as through institutional grants from the National Institute of Mental Health and the National Institute of Health Multidisciplinary Clinical Translational Research Program. Dr. Derr has also been recognized by the Group for the Advancement of Doctoral Education for Leadership and Service, was honored as an Outstanding University of Washington Woman, recieved the Seattle University College of Arts & Sciences Outstanding Service Award in 2018 and was the Seattle University College of Arts and Sciences Teacher of the Year in 2014.
